We are a church committed to SHARING the love of God, GROWING empowered lives through God’s Word and worship, and CARING for the lost in our great city and beyond.
our beliefs
These are the core beliefs of Faith City Church Chicago based on the foundational truths taught in the bible. All of our teaching and ministry is rooted in and flows out of these biblical doctrines.
God
There is one eternally existing God revealed as the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. He is the creator of all that exists, both visible and invisible, and is therefore worthy of all glory and praise.
Genesis 1:26-27 | Psalm 90:2 | Matthew 28:19 | 1 Peter 1:2
Jesus
that He was 100% God and 100% man.
Romans 1:3-4 | Acts 1: 9-11 | 1 Timothy 6:14-15 | Titus 2:13
The Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit makes men aware of their need for Jesus Christ, and lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation. He provides us with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing right. The Holy Spirit Baptism is a unique experience with evidence of tongues that empowers the church to preach the gospel throughout the world.
2 Corinthians 3:17 | John 16:7-13, 14:16-17 | Acts 1:8 | 1 Corinthians 2:12, 3:16
Ephesians 1:13, 5:18 | Galatians 5:25
Ephesians 1:13, 5:18 | Galatians 5:25
The Bible
We believe the Bible to be the inspired Word of God.
2 Timothy 3:16
Human Beings
We are made in the image of God, as the supreme object of His creation. Although every person has tremendous potential for good, all of us are marred by an attitude of disobedience toward God called “sin”. This attitude separates people from God and causes many problems in life.
Genesis 1:27 | Psalm 8:3-6 | Isaiah 53:6a, 59:1-3
Romans 3:23, 5:12-13, 6:23
Romans 3:23, 5:12-13, 6:23
Salvation
We believe in the salvation of sinners by grace, through repentance and faith.
Ephesians 2:8-9 | Hebrews 9:12, 22 | Romans 5:11
Eternity
People were created to exist forever, either in hell, where they will be eternally separated from God, or in heaven, where they will be eternally with God. Heaven and Hell are real places of eternal existence.
John 3:16, 14:17 | Romans 6:23, 8:17-18
Revelation 20:15 | 1 Corinthians 2:7-19
Revelation 20:15 | 1 Corinthians 2:7-19
The Gifts of the Spirit
The Holy Spirit brings various gifts and enablements, as outlined in Scripture, and these gifts are valid and fully operative today. These gifts always operate in harmony with the Scriptures and should never be used in violation of Biblical parameters.
1 Corinthians 12 - 14
The Five-Fold Ministry
The callings of apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers are functional within the body of Christ until the Lord’s return. The purpose of these gifts to the church is to equip believers for the work of ministry, that the body of Christ might be edified.
1 Corinthians 12:28 | Ephesians 4:11-12
Baptism and Communion
The Word of God enjoins on the Church two perpetual ordinances of the Lord Jesus Christ. The first, baptism, is the outward sign of what God has already done in the individual’s life. It is a testimony to all that the person now belongs to Jesus. It is identification with Jesus and is effected in His name. The Lord’s Supper is a commemoration of the death of the Lord and is done in remembrance of Him until He comes again; it is a sign of our participation in Him. Both institutions are restricted to those who are believers.
Acts 10:48 | 1 Corinthians 11:26
Divine Healing
Divine healing is an integral part of the gospel. Deliverance from sickness is provided for in the atonement, and is the privilege of all believers.
Isaiah 53:4,5 | Matthew 8:16-17 | James 5:14-16
End of Times Events
We affirm the bodily, personal, second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ, the resurrection of the saints, the millennium, and the final judgment. The final judgment will determine the eternal status of both the saints and the unbelievers, determined by their relationship to Jesus Christ. We affirm with the Bible the final state of the new heavens and the new earth.
