Creating a Church Where Everyone Belongs

What is Ability Tree?
Ability Tree is a ministry that equips churches to intentionally welcome, support, and include individuals and families affected by disabilities.
Their mission is not simply to create a disability ministry, but to help churches become places where every person can belong, worship, grow in Christ, and serve.

Why Disability Inclusion
Matters
Every community is impacted by disability.
Disability is not a rare issue—it exists in every city, neighborhood, and church community. Because of that, churches have an opportunity to intentionally reach and care for individuals and families living with disabilities.

- Nearly 1 in 3 impacted families have left at least one church because their needs weren't being met.
- Families raising children with autism are significantly less likely to attend church than the average family.
- More than half of parents reported they were expected to stay with their child rather than being able to participate in worship or ministry.
Many churches believe they are welcoming, but families often experience something different.
2020 Survey:
- 99% of pastors believed families with disabilities would feel welcome at their church.
- However, 86.5% of church-attending families with disabilities said they do not necessarily feel welcomed and believe churches need more awareness and training on disability inclusion.

Our Vision at Faith City
Faith City Church Chicago is partnering with Ability Tree because we believe the Gospel is for everyone.
❤️ Belong
We want to create a church where every person can fully belong regardless of ability.
🚪 Remove Barriers
Create an environment so individuals and families affected by disabilities can worship, grow, and serve alongside the entire church family.
🧩 Understand
Better understand disabilities so we can love, serve, and support individuals and families with greater compassion and care.
🤝 Community
Help families experience belonging instead of isolation, ensuring every person feels seen, valued, and connected within the life of the church.
